The Hintertux Glacier is Austria’s only year-round ski area and scores with fantastic slopes and ski runs. Even in the summer and fall you will find fun in the snow on the 9 glacier lifts and 30 to 60 kilometers of slopes. At an impressive altitude of 3.250m the top station can be reached by the most modern two-cable-lift of the world. Up there even non-skiers can admire the newly constructed observation deck of the majestic mountain backdrop.

Panoramic terrace on 3.250m

At the peak of the Glacier station there is the frozen wall with its panoramic terrace. You go up with the Gletscherbus3 – the most spectacular cable car in the Alps. The breathtaking panorama goes from the Grossglockner over the Dolomites to the Zugspitze! The ascent to the panoramic terrace is “barrier free” – Austria’s highest elevator brings also families with pushchairs and wheelchair users easily on the panoramic terrace.

Nature ice palace

The natural ice palace on the Hintertux glacier at 3,250 m is a natural crevasse, which is produced without human intervention. It is divided into the lobby, the Firnkegle gallery with the crystal chamber, the blue chamber, the ice chapel and the ice palace with his magnifying glass to the actual pure ice formations. Guided tours are available during your holidays in Hintertux daily every hour from 10:30 bis 14:30.

Spannagelhöhle

Spannagel hut & Spannagel cave

Below the Spannagelhaus on the Hintertux glacier the entry into the subterranean adventure begins: the main Alpine ridge consists primarily of bedrock. However, as a geological feature one crystalline limestone stretches from south of the Spannagel hut to Hintertux. The cave is the largest natural cave in the entire Central Alps! Open all year, daily guided tours between 10:00 until 15:00.
