One thing visitors can be sure of in the Zillertal Valley is plenty of snow – all year round! It may be a funny feeling to put your skis in the car alongside your swimming shorts, but there is nothing quite like an early-morning ski to get the pulse racing before heading back down into the valley to enjoy the warm sunshine. Up on the Hintertux Glacier at 3,250 metres above sea level it is winter all year – with even more sunshine.

Night after night our  piste groomers are hard at work to make sure that skiers can enjoy perfect slopes in the "world's best glacier ski resort". Thanks to the resort's extremely high altitude, we guarantee fresh powder snow from  October until May!

There really is no better way to start a summer's day than with a few runs down perfectly groomed slopes. As the sun gets warmer and the pistes softer, it is time to put the skis away and jump into the hotel pool, play a round of golf or simply lie back and enjoy the stunning landscape.

Insights into the eternal ice

Just 200 metres from the highest point on the Hintertux Glacier lies the entrance to the Ice Palace. The shimmering blue entrance forms the first of several stops on an underground tour through the glacier. See what it is like inside a crevasse, watch ice stalactites grow drop by drop, marvel at the frozen waterfall and look out over the amazing underground lake

Luis' Glacier Bug Safari

Since July 2015, an exciting adventure trail with tricky riddles has been waiting around the Sommerberg hiking area. Together with Gletscherfloh Luis, little detectives explore interactive stations and learn more about the mystery of the glacier in a playful way. The treasure map is available at a ticket office at the valley station in Hintertux. On safari, get set, go!

Spannehöhle in the Zillertal

Spannagel Cave

The highest show cave in Europe is a particularly worthwhile destination for families with children. With a measured length of around 12.5 kilometres, it is considered the largest rock cave in the Central Alps, around 500 metres of which can be visited during a guided tour near the entrance.
